Abstract
Introduction: Horace Mann was born in Franklin, Massachusetts on May 4th, 1796. His father, who was a farmer, died when Horace was thirteen years old. He left to his family as a strong impression of moral worth and also love of knowledge. His mother with whom Horace lived for twenty years, was the object of his most tender affection and respect.
