Abstract
Introduction: The written history of this famous breed of hogs does not extend back more than thirty years. At the meeting of the National Swine Breeders Association, at Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1872, when they were first recognized as a distinct breed of hogs, a committee with F. D. Curtis as chairman reported on them somewhat as follows.
