Introduction: Every bushel of grain shipped out of our state carries with it the fertility of our soil that is required to produce it. This vast amount of fertility is never returned. To illustrate the defects of our present system of agriculture, we ship our grain and hay to Denmark and Sweden to feed their dairy cows, and the waste products enrich their soil.
