The PDM Lecture Series:
The Political, Diplomatic and Military Lecture Series was developed in the spring of 1996 by Kansas State University Professor Dr. Dale Herspring to offer current perspectives in the fields of political, diplomatic and military thought. Upon Dr. Herspring’s retirement control of the lecture series was assumed by the Kansas State University Office of Military and Veterans Affairs.
Speakers with world views enriched by their personal experience come to Manhattan to offer their wisdom in an intimate setting where their exclusive knowledge is appreciated and utilized by the local community. Lectures are traditionally held twice per semester and are preceded by an exquisite dinner service.
The Pouch:
The PDM Lecture Series newsletter is called The Pouch in tribute to the diplomatic mailbag, also known as the diplomatic pouch, where private and restricted intelligence is shared between national embassies without facing the filter of international customs officers. The information shared at PDM Lectures is exclusive in nature and valuable to such a degree it is not often shared with the public.
The Pouch was launched in the spring of 2018.
PDM Lecture Series Speaker History:
The PDM Lecture Series has hosted 87 distinguished speakers since 1996.
