| dc.description.abstract | This report examines how historical research, theoretical analysis, and targeted practice guides inform interpretive decisions and pedagogical outcomes in violin performance. Due to the author’s lifelong connection with music and experience preparing degree recitals and teaching, this report uses close readings of selected repertoire—encompassing composer biography, historical context, and theoretical/structural analysis—with applied practice strategies developed during preparation and instruction. Through thorough analysis and reflection in performance and teaching scenarios, the author demonstrates that contextual knowledge influences expressive choices (articulation, tempo, phrasing, and character), while theoretical insights clarify phrase structure and harmonic function, further guiding interpretation. Practice guides extrapolated from these analyses provide concrete exercises and concepts that lead to efficient practice and transfer pedagogical knowledge to future violinists tackling similar works. The findings suggest that prior or simultaneous analytical study allows the performer to foster a deeper connection to the music, enhances audience engagement when contextual material is shared, and strengthens pedagogical scaffolding for developing musicians. | |
