Abstract
This document was submitted to the Graduate School of Kansas University as a partial requirement for the Master’s in Music degree. It contains the analysis of the vocal works performed on April 14th, 2019 for the Master’s recital. The sources were utilized to discuss composers’ biographies and the vocal works’ theoretical, historical analyses for Gitanjiali by John Alden Carpenter, Air Chantés by Francis Poulenc, Magnificat by J. S. Bach and Lieder (Dans un Bois Solitaire; An Chloe; Abendempfindung; Als luise die Brife ihres ungetreuen Liebhabers verbrannte) by Mozart.
