dc.descriptionDuring her time as the First Lady from 1879-1897, Mrs. Fairchild founded along with others the Domestic Science Club, which recruited local women to open their homes for students to practice their skills until the college had sufficient facilities for the students. She is the wife of president George Thompson Fairchild.
