| dc.description.abstract | The current inventory of solo oboe literature is incredibly expansive, spanning centuries of music by composers across the globe, with diverse backgrounds and talents. Despite a wide variety of works to choose from, the process of selecting a new composition can be incredibly challenging without the knowledge of works that exist beyond the standard canon and the pedagogical elements contained within them. In the following document, I aim to establish an oboe solo difficulty rubric that will provide oboe teachers with an effective repertoire selection tool to maximize pedagogical intent. A pleasant outcome from this endeavor is also that it sheds light on works by underrepresented composers providing additional accessibility for both teachers and their students. | |
