Dr. Robert W. Schoeff devoted his 30 year career at K-State’s Department of Grain Science and industry to the study and prevention of agricultural dust explosions. This collection was created out of Dr. Schoeff’s photographs of dust explosion sites that he used for analysis and education programs. As an expert in grain elevator safety, Dr. Schoeff complied detailed accounts of explosion incidents across the United States, which he cataloged in annual reports from 1980 to 2005.
During Dr. Schoeff’s career his expertise was called upon in numerous investigations, and his collection of articles, reports, and primary resources materials comprise on the most comprehensive knowledge bases of Agricultural Dust Explosions in the country. Dr. Schoeff also produced a series of educational videos, Deadly Dust I, II, and III which are used in at least 38 countries, and has presented lectures and seminars throughout the United States and the world.
