Description

Local lesion phase on a corn plant. Abundant conidia are often produced which resembles "down" on a leaf. Hence, the name downy mildew. Conidia are very fragile and lose viability after 3-4 hours.
Host/Plant: Corn, cultivated and wild sorghum, Johnson grass and Teosinte. (Zea mays)
Pest/Path: Sorghum Downy Mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi)
