Abstract:
In the summer of 2011, I completed a practicum in Austin, TX to partially fulfill the requirements of the Master of Public Health degree at Kansas State University. Because of my interest in corporate wellness and degree emphasis in physical activity, I accepted an intern position at Apple Inc., in the Wellness department. For this internship I was offered a comprehensive multi-level experience applying knowledge and skills acquired throughout my education. Experiencing numerous components of corporate wellness programs, I sought to
increase public health impact by reaching as many employees as possible at Apple through the Apple Wellness program. Using evidence-based practices, evaluations, and analysis of programs offered I determine strategies to increase participation for programs offered through Apple Wellness. Additionally, I part took in numerous other projects that aligned with the mission and
goals of Apple Wellness. In the process, I was able to contribute my skills and learn from an already well-established program through health education seminars, special series, large events, health assessments, fitness consultation, and more.
